Pat Jessee

I love to tell the story about how my father put a pencil in my hand when I was 2 years old, and I’ve been drawing ever since. I went on to major in art in college at Kansas University. Later as my children were growing up, I worked part time designing greeting cards for the family’s greeting card business, Posty Cards Inc. At the same time, I painted and entered art fairs, and juried shows.

I have won several purchase awards in the Kansas Watercolor Society’s Annual Show in Wichita, Kansas, honorable mention in a International Pastel Show, 2010, 2 paintings in the Kansas 150 Show in Topeka, Kansas Celebrating Kansas being 150 years old, Several One Woman Shows, State of the Arts Show 2010, a National Pastel Show 2018 – First Place, Christian Art Show in 2016 Best of Show and theme award. Purchase Award Irene French Gallery at Merriam Community Center. Honorable Mention at the Images Art Gallery in Overland Park KS., 2019.

Also my work has been displayed in numerous juried shows. I also do portrait commissions and Inspired Art which comes from ideas I receive in dreams or pictures in my mind while I’m awake. They are not often Bible events, but more metaphors of Jesus. Most recently, a series of American Flag Paintings which express the idea of coming back to the values originally presented at the beginning of this great nation, honesty, integrity, freedom to practice their faith in God whatever that might be.
